GERALDINE TAYLOR a Sydney artist, was born at The Entrance, NSW and spent her early childhood in Papua and New Guinea. Her family moved to north Queensland where she continued to develop her love of the outdoors. She has been drawing and painting birds and animals as well as land and water scenes, all her life.

In 1974 Geraldine commenced a very successful career in education as a primary school teacher, teaching in a number of schools in Queensland and NSW. During this time she used her artistic skills and talent to inspire her young charges to appreciate art in all its many facets and to become involved in a range of art experiences. She went on to become a Science and Technology Consultant with the NSW Department of Education and Training and completed her teaching career as a Quality Teaching Consultant in Educational Leadership. Geraldine has capably juggled her teaching and art with a busy and happy family life.

Mainly self-taught, her preferred mediums are watercolour gouache and acrylics although she has produced a number of works in oils, charcoal and coloured pencil. Her paintings include vibrant, finely detailed landscapes and seascapes, flora and fauna. Her artworks are held in many private collections in England, Japan, New Zealand and throughout Australia.

Much of her work is privately commissioned and includes an extensive range of pet portraits which have been
highly acclaimed for their portrayal of each animal’s unique character and personality. Geraldine is particularly perceptive of the deep connections between owners and their pets and is able to paint these aspects into each portrait. Geraldine has demonstrated her personal style in gouache techniques to various audiences and these
have been well received.

She is an active member of the Oatley 101 Society of Artists, the Nepean Art Society and
Southern Cross Art Society.
